EU seeks to buy Moderna vaccine at less than US$25 per dose

An EU official involved in the negotiations said that the European Commission hopes to reach an agreement with the American biotechnology company Moderna, allowing the company to provide millions of doses of new crown vaccine candidates to the EU at a price of less than $25 per dose.

Moderna said on Monday that based on preliminary data from a late-stage trial, its experimental the Covid-19 vaccine is 94.5% effective in preventing the Covid-19, becoming the second US drugmaker to report results far better than expected.

An internal EU document shows that the EU has been negotiating with Moderna on an experimental the Covid-19 vaccine since July.
